According to ARS Technica the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has granted a gun manufacturers license to Austin, Texas based Defense Distributed, a group that wants to create weapons with it's WikiGun project using 3-D printed parts, rather than parts manufactured of the traditional stamped or milled steel. The group has been working on numerous prototype designs for various components and this will allow them to sell a few of their designs and continue development on others.
